Good Shepherd 2021 Annual Meeting

Dear People of Good Shepherd,

We are in the season of Epiphany. Amidst a global pandemic and national division this is a very difficult time for us all.  And yet we know that God is with us, that God is always with us, through all of our struggles and pain.  And God is calling us to be messengers of the Good News to this broken world around us.  We are still bound by the restrictions that are designed to curb the spread of COVID-19, and so we must continue to do our work of reconciliation virtually, by phone, e-mail, letter, and Zoom, and by contributing to the needs of the poor through food and supply donations along with financial contributions.

Our Annual Meeting will be on Zoom on Sunday January 31 at 10:15 a.m. or as soon as the 9:30 worship service on Zoom is finished.  For those of you who have not yet joined us on Zoom for worship, we invite you to begin. We miss you!  You can join in our worship and in the annual meeting by telephone if you are unable to connect with a computer, tablet, or smart phone.

The link to the Zoom meeting and instructions for joining by phone are at the end of this letter. They will also be on the web site and in the January 29 Shepherd's Call e-news, which is being sent electronically to all parishioners who have e-mail addresses on file. Instructions will be sent by hard copy to our parishioners who are unable to use e-mail.

At time of this writing we have a slate of three candidates for the vestry which will fulfill our need for three vestry members. You can read their statements here. Nominations have been open for several months and will close on January 20 so that any other candidates can be screened for eligibility requirements (confirmation or reception in TEC and pledging for the current year and keeping a pledge for the prior year).  We will also be voting for diocesan convention delegates at our meeting, as well as hearing from the treasurer, the wardens, and the rector.

We continue to pray for our nation, for a peaceful transition of power, and for the swift deployment of the vaccine to enough of our population so that we will be able to gather in person again. We miss each other and our normal way of doing things. And yet we are still needing to continue this new way of being together, this new way of being church, for some months to come.  Join us as we continue to deepen our faith in God and our ministry to the world around us.

Epiphany Blessings!
